Unique Venues of London is a marketing association of over 80 culturally significant buildings and landmarks located across Greater London which are available for event hire. For over 27 years it has been at the forefront of London’s venue scene, helping to unlock exceptional spaces in iconic heritage and contemporary locations, each with their own unique character, but all sharing a passion for excellence in events and hospitality. It maintains a strict selection process, ensuring the integrity of the organisation and supports its members through shared experiences, learning and education.
Unique Venues of London supports our member venues prioritising and promoting their events and hospitality businesses. With prime business purposes other than events and hospitality, UVL encourages and promotes the networking of a vibrant and committed community of professionals, who together share the same challenges. Ongoing dialogue enables strength of economy and efficiency within the member venues and more broadly, the sector and the interest of those engaged.
The events industry has been one of the worst hit in 2020 due to Covid-19 and at the heart of these events are the venues that they take place in. Venues have fell silent for over a year and these great teams within them are waiting patiently to host spectacular parties and with the road map to recovery announced recently, this is becoming more of a reality day by day.
Working from home can be lonely and the teams that are created within venues, in a industry that is energetic and extremely social, a sense of community and being part of a team has been lacking for over 12 months.
The London Venue Million Metre Challenge is the brain child of James Sargison (MMC Launch Manager) who was an avid member of the events industry for over a decade, however became a redundancy statistic in July 2020. Working closely with Unique Venues of London, they have created a challenge for London venues to bring teams back together within this vibrant industry.
Teams of 6-8 will compete (healthily) over 7 weeks to all reach a target of 1,000,000 metres, improving personal well-being, keeping active to ensure a strong mental health and finally reinvigorating team spirit.
