Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has now been working for 25 years to help prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families.
To honour the 25-year milestone, CRY has partnered with the Million Metre Challenge to launch our ’25 Million Metre Challenge’ which kicks off 1st February until 2nd May 2021.
This is a virtual challenge with a difference! Rather than heading out alone we want you to help us achieve 25 Million Metres together!
You can take part on your own or set up a team, set your own inspiring target and help CRY clock up the metres together with all its supporters and fundraisers - whether that be walking, running, cycling, rowing or swimming - it all counts
And DON'T WORRY, there aren't any excel spreadsheets to fill out. Simply link to Strava or Fitbit to automatically sync all of your data straight into your challenge. Check out the FAQ's to link to your other fitness apps - we've got the majority covered.
The Million Metre Challenge is a not-for-profit company set-up by Tony Eames, a long-standing supporter of CRY and former myheart member. Tony is diagnosed with Long-QT syndrome and has a pacemaker. The MMC was initiated after he completed the epic distance on a rowing machine. Realising the benefits a long-term fitness routine can provide he set about creating a programme to support physical fitness, mental fitness and personal discipline.
The MMC now supports individuals on their own journeys but can now support multi-country and multi-team challenges across charities, schools and corporate companies.
